The Giants plan on defensive lineman Chris Canty returning to practice this week, coach Tom Coughlin said today. Canty has been on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing offseason knee surgery. He said last week he would "absolutely" be ready to practice this week -- the first week he is eligible -- but could not make any guarantees on when he'll be added to the 53-man roster. Players on the PUP list must sit out their team's first six games of the season. After that, they have a three-week window to begin practicing, followed by a three-week window to be added to the 53-man roster. Source: Newark Star-Ledger
