  1. The directive for Clint Sintim’s season was set in April by general manager Jerry Reese. With the NFL locked out, Sintim rehabilitated his surgically repaired right knee with his former teammates at the University of Virginia. Even six hours away, Sintim heard the message Reese sent when speaking to reporters before April’s draft. “I think (Sintim) needs to grow up and play like a second-round player that we think he is and give us that value and step in there and show us that he can be a starter for us,†Reese said the The Giants drafted Sintim early in the second round of the 2009 draft with expectations of Sintim becoming a playmaking linebacker on the Giants’ defense. Sintim has only 33 tackles in two seasons beset by injuries and last year ended prematurely with a torn ACL. “Nobody ever likes to be called out, but I do understand where he’s coming from,†Sintim said this week of Reese’s comments. “I wasn’t drafted in the sixth or seventh (rounds). Typically, if you’re drafted earlier, you’re expected to perform, you’re expected to play. I haven’t really proved myself or performed. He wants to see that from me, and I want to see it from me.â€
