Tiki Barber‘s decision to unretire and play next season didn’t elicit a great deal of support from most NFL observers. But his former teammate, Giants LT David Diehl, was in the NFL Network house Friday and said Barber will prove the naysayers wrong. “As someone who played with Barber, he’s smart, he has a great football mind, and he’ll be able to go into a camp and pick up the offense immediately,†Diehl said. “He has unbelievable vision, and what people always fail to remember is that his best years were right before he left. His major thing is he never took big hits. I think he’s going to come back, and I think he’s going to surprise some people.†Among Diehl’s interesting points is that Barber’s best production came in his ninth (2005) and 10th (2006) NFL seasons, when he was 30 and 31 years old, respectively. If Barber, now 36, is motivated — and Brian Baldinger believes he is — at the very least it will get interesting. Source: NFL.com
