The Giants had a difficult decision to make at backup quarterback between veterans David Carr and Sage Rosenfels. Neither was released, though, after the team kept Carr on the active roster and placed Rosenfels on injured reserve with strep throat and back problems that resulted from the strep throat. It’s still possible the Giants could release Rosenfels with an injury settlement. Rosenfels, who is entering his 11th NFL season, did not sound on Thursday as if he had a season-ending injury. “Compared to how I felt, I feel like I felt the first day of training camp,†said Rosenfels, who did not play in the final three preseason games. Carr, 32, was the Giants’ backup quarterback in 2008 and 2009. Source: Newark Star-Ledger
I don't recall anyone being placed on IR with strep throat but it's likely temporary. A move had to be made.......
