Giants president John Mara talked with Chris Russo about recently released WR Plaxico Burress on Sirius XMs Mad Dog Unleashed radio show. Mara admitted that Burress ability and talent made the decision a tough one, especially when you consider what the receiver meant in the teams Super Bowl XLII championship run. Mara said what many already thought: Burress was the MVP of that Super Bowl team. We do not win the Super Bowl in the 07 season without [Burress] being there. He was arguably our most valuable player. And hes a tremendous talent and thats the crime of it all. He really has a lot of talent. He can be one of the great players in this league. I mean, if he was able to stay here and continue his career here and stay out of trouble, there would have been billboards in Times Square with his picture on them. I think hes that good and had that much charisma and everything. So thats why it was a particularly tough decision for us to have to part ways. But there just comes a point in time as an organization where you have to make a decision and say enough is enough, weve got to move on. Source: NFL.com
well, no one has ever questioned Plax's abilities to run routes well and catch the ball .............. he's just become a major liability to have on a roster because of his off-the-field issues (i.e. Pacman, Michael Vick, etc.). Who has ever said that Plax doesn't have a ton of talent?
