Bill Sheridan's first season as Giants defensive coordinator almost certainly will be his last. Though Tom Coughlin hasn't announced his intentions, several players, coaches and members of the organization all told the Daily News Sunday they expect Sheridan to be fired in the next few days. That's hardly a shock, since the team surrendered 427 points this year - the most since giving up 501 in 1966. Source: New York Daily News
...wheew, there was moments where it sounded like that might hang on and that made me look at next year with a cringe. Now I look forward to seeing what this D can do with a healthy KP and Jay Alford (among others) back in the line-up.
i don't see any way that anyone could justify him keeping his job after what happened to their D this year .............
Its offical! Thank god.. I wonder who's on there minds.. should be interesting to see. Im assuming they are going to wait till who gets fired and what not to make their choice. Now hopefully Gilbride gets the shank too! I'm sick of the 3rd and 4 draw plays. This team has talent they need to really open it up.
Giants fire defensive coordinator Sheridan after only one season Now its official. :icon_cheesygrin: Encore! Encore! Encore! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GwjfUFyY6M"]YouTube- Kool & The Gang - Celebration[/ame]
Word on the street is that he is a real candidate for the soon to be Oakland job. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Also, I keep reading that Gilbride's contract is up.
Thats been floating around for a couple of years now. Gilbride seems to be a potential hot candidate for the Raiders Head Coaching gig. Now personally, I wouldn't be all that upset if we retained him. Our offense this season has been more spectacular in the passing game but we do need to get back to the running game more. We simply cannot win being a one dimensional team. On the flip side however, it wouldn't be a bad idea to shake things up a little on the offensive side and bring in a new Offensive Coordinator as well to add a few new wrinkles in the playbook. Just have to wait and see. This should be a very interesting month or two.
: ( I knew this guy was fantastic for the rest of the NFC East the day they signed Chris Canty to play DT. I knew that instant that this was no Spag's.....this dude didnt know what the heck he was doing
I agree, I'm not a Gilbride hater like a lot of Giants fans, but there is some suspect play calling sometimes at key points in games. I wouldn't be bitter going into 2010 with Gilbride, but I'd like to get a fresh look on offense. Especially with our very young and very talented receivers and Eli coming off his best statistical year.
