Earlier today, the Giants approached the agent for tackle Shawn Andrews in the hopes of restructuring his contract and keeping him on the team. A few minutes ago, Andrews Tweeted that the two sides couldn’t work out an agreement. A source confirmed that talks broke down and he is expected to be released. “Myself & Big Blue Couldn't Come To An Agreement On A Favorable Contract,†Andrews said via his always active and entertaining @IMShawnAndrews Twitter account. “But "IT AIN'T OVA" Thanks 4 Trusting In Me!!! “I've Had A Cuffin Blast In NY/NJ..... Time To Keep Grinding & Git Er Done!!!! Nothing But Respect†The 28-year-old offensive lineman played in 13 games for the Giants last year and even started seven games at tackle. The Giants signed him last August just as training camp broke, to a six-year, $32.5 million contract that included little up-front risk ($1.5 million in salaries and bonuses last year) and the potential for great rewards for Andrews, but he had a recurrence of his back trouble last year and it even landed him in the hospital for a few days around Thanksgiving.
