We thought it would be cool to have our own NFL awards here at GIF. I will post the nomination threads where members can nominate players for each award. The thread will be left up for a few days, then I'll post a vote thread so everyone can vote on the nominees. The winners will be posted after the polls close, and we can seed how close GIF's predictions are to the real thing.

So here you go. Nominate the player you think has been the MVP in the NFL this year.

    Current Nominations:
    Peyton Manning
    JJ Watt
    Adrian Peterson
    Geno Atkins
    Tom Brady
    Matt Ryan

    MVP = Most Valuable Player.

To the 49ers he the most valuable player on that team.
Through 13.5 games with a healthy Justin Smith the team gave up 170 total points thats 12.59 points per game or roughly 3.14 per quarter.
Since he has been injured the defense has given up 70 points in 6 quarters or 11.7 points per quarter.

That is a huge swing and shows how much he is worth to this team. i know he is a defensive player but his value to this team is ridiculous. He is by far the Most Valuable Player for the 49ers.

Damn guys this is an even bigger response than I was expecting. We've probably about maxed out the amount of nominations we're going to get, so I'll check all the threads when I get off work tomorrow. If there's not a lot of new names, I'll go ahead and get the vote/debate threads up and we can get the real action under way.

I just want to thank all the members participating in these awards. All the interest is really making it fun to keep track of. I'm really looking forward to the voting and conversation.

Gotta go to Pey Pey. If he isn't the Broncos QB, they're just another meh team.

if we're going to put defensive players and RB's as nominees, I will put Megatron on there just for the amount of catches/yards he has put up this year.

u would have to have a ridiculous year to have a defensive mvp not gonna happen

manning or peterson no doubt and i think they favor qbs so its probably gonna be peyton. i hope peyton and peterson both win something one comeback player one mvp

yep, if any defensive player deserves it this year, it is J.J. Watt, NOT justin smith
