Sorry in advance for the shortened article. Tons of overtime at work this week so not a lot of time at home to write. Also I'm posting it a little early because I'll be working most of the day tomorrow. Don't forget to PM me with any suggestions for the Weekend Primer, including if you want to request a particular game any given week. This is done solely for everyone's enjoyment so you might as well get to pick what you read about. Steelers vs. Bengals [ame=http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-previews/0ap2000000243228/Preview-Pittsburgh-Steelers-vs-Cincinnati-Bengals]Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals - NFL Videos[/ame] I'm going to try not to pick the same teams every week, but I'm already breaking that rule. Last week I wrote about the Bengals when they played the Bears, and of course I picked the outcome wrong. The Bears came out a lot faster than I thought they would. But the Bengals still looked really good. I don't think that was a bad loss. AJ Green went crazy, as expected. I love watching him torch defenses, unless it's my team's defense. The Bears defense is one of the best in the league at forcing turnovers, so I expect the Bengals to get those under control going forward. The Steelers had a much less encouraging week 1. They lost too, but they lost a lot more than the game. Star center Maurkice Pouncey tore an ACL and is lost for the season. Maybe some karma for the Free Hernandez campaign? Doubtful. But still. Not impossible. Seriously though that's going to be a huge loss. I thought the Steelers could have a big comeback year, but that's not looking so promising now. I see the Bengals bouncing back after a tough week 1 loss, and the Steelers continuing their disappointing start. I feel like these teams are moving in opposites directions, and it's going to show this weekend. Bengals - 31 Steelers - 14 Broncos vs. Giants [ame=http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-previews/0ap2000000243224/Preview-Denver-Broncos-vs-New-York-Giants]Preview: Denver Broncos vs. New York Giants - NFL Videos[/ame] Of course, the Manning Bowl. The Manning brother's may be the most talented siblins on the planet, if it wasn't for Cooper bringing down the average. He has to love this though, because it's the one time of year people remember he actually exists. Same goofy Manning face, zero Manning talent. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't get as hyped up for this as most people seem to. I think it would be cooler if one of them played defensive end or middle linebacker, but it is what it is. I still remember the first ever Manning Bowl, when people were saying things like, "The Colts will win because Peyton won't let himself lose to his little brother." When really, the Colts won because they were the infinitely better team. The brother storyline is played up way too much, but obviously it's not the first or last time the media overhypes something. I think this will be much of the same. A lot of the novelty of it has worn off, but it stills gets blown up. That being said, I think the Broncos will win this game easily. Not because Peyton can't lose to little bro, but because the Broncos are the vastly superior team. I don't expect Peyton to come close to his Week 1 performance, but he'll still be stellar. The guy is on a level of his own. And the addition of Welker combined with Julius Thomas seems to be making him even better. Broncos - 35 Giants - 24
The Manning Bowl is old news now. Sure it was cool when they first played each other but now it's just another game imo. Lmao at the picture.
I actually despise the "Manning Bowl." Just recycles old stories about the "third Manning"... this guy was more talented than Eli, Peyton and Archie. You know, the one that most resembles Chuck Cunningham...who you ask?!? And then they always have to trot Archie out there to make a dopey comment...a period in time where no hecks are given.
