GIF's Top Ten Best Quarterbacks Not In The Hall Of Fame

Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jul 4, 2010.

  1. Let's compile a list, in your opinion, of the top ten greatest quarterbacks who has yet to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame that are eligible (retired at least five years).

The format for each post should contain the following:

    Player Pic
    Name
    Team(s)
    Seasons of Service
    Notable Achievements/Accolades
    Biography (optional)

    One nomination per member.

After the list is complied, we will have a healthy debate if you disagree with anyone on the list. If you want, you can make an honorable mention iyo who should be on this list.

    Name : RANDALL CUNNINGHAM
Team(s) : Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens
    Seasons of Service : 16
Notable Achievements/Accolades :Biography (optional) : Randall Cunningham - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I was going to go with Jim Hart to go a little obscure and change it up a bit but decided to stick with Randall. My main thing with the Hall of Fame is if you can't tell "The Story of The NFL" without the individual, then he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Randall is a main part of the NFL with his time with the Eagles. He was revolutionary as far as QB's rushing go...

Made another submission to speed things up a little.

Let's get this list finished guys...just need two more.

Here's what we have so far of the greatest QB's not in the HOF:

    Ken Anderson
    Randall Cunningham
    Ken Stabler
    Rich Gannon
    Phil Simms
    Boomer Esiason
    Jim Plunkett
    Roman Gabriel

Anyone who hasn't made a nomination and wants to give it a shot...feel free to do so. Just takes some knowledge and a little research. The purpose behind the one nomination per member rule was to get multiple people involved and to give them a fair chance to make a submission. Remember, only nominate a QB that is eligible for the HOF but have yet to be enshrined (retired at least five years).

Anyone who has made a prior nomination and would like to do so again...feel free. :icon_cool:

    86WARD -

Kind of surprised that Jim Hart isn't on the list...

  15. I think Hart's biggest case for enshrinement is that he led a Cardinals franchise, that had a history of losing, to three straight 10+ win seasons from 1974-1976 and back-to-back divisional titles in 1975 & 1976. That was probably their best period until Kurt Warner became the Cardinals starting QB in the mid 2000's.

I was torn on Hart and came close to nominating him on a couple of occasions but had to go with Dave Krieg with my final nomination.

If there was anyone on that list I would replace and put Hart in...it would be Jim Plunkett. Plunkett's biggest case is that he won two Super Bowls with the Raiders and is the only QB with multiple rings not in the HOF. But his numbers weren't that eye-popping....as well as Hart's. Plunkett was never an elite passer and was more of a game-manager.

honorable mention for Doug Williams. his stats don't justify the HOF but his accomplishments should
