Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward said he would like to see if Usain Bolt could catch on with the Steelers. Bolt, of course, is the speedy track star who ran a world record-setting 9.58 seconds in the 100-meter dash on Sunday. Ward wonders if Bolt would have the same success running pass routes. "In this game, you have to have great hips and great footwork to get in and out of routes," Ward told the Associated Press. "You can take a fast guy like a Bolt, he might be able to run only one way. He has to stop and turn. For me, I'll take a guy with quickness and great route-running ability over speed. But you can't teach speed. I'd love to have his speed."

For the last time, it's not the same tu run straight forward with nothing in your way, than making cuts, and avoiding people. Not everyone is Bob Hayes.

That said, Bolt's record was just SICK

Has anyone ever tried him out at route running?

    Is Bolt even interested?

Look up former Gator speedster John Capel Jr. Olympic speed but, couldn't catch AIDS in a Mexican tramp house.

Sprinters speed doesn't translate into football speed. Period.

lets see him take one solid hit and crumble. He seems like an arrogant bastard that would think he could throw some pads on and have at it, but there are very few people can do that. He is stupid fast though, I'll give him that.

there was a former usa 100 meter star that got banned by the ioc for years for riods or some crap that tried to catch on the with the texans and had no luck. Bolt would break in half first time he got leveled. but as tj said that race was freaking sick as hell. dude was looking left and right while running the fastest time ever

    Justin Gatlin?

There have been a few relatively successful receivers that were sprinters before they entered the NFL...

    Bob Hayes
    Willie Gault
    James Jett
    Renaldo Nehemiah

I don't think Ward said he "could" do it. He said he'd like to see "if" he could. Bolt isn't small....maybe he'd be like Randy Moss. Bolt also is fast not quick. He isn't always the first out of the blocks......interesting concept but he'd have to be able to catch on or two td's a game is all.....

Bolt would never get off the line "quick" enough to use his speed. The corners would "press" his butt into the ground...

I would like to see him put on the pads just once to watch some safety lay his cocky butt out. He is unreal on the track though.
