Anyone who's never watched New Japan, or have chosen not to due to language barriers or your own stupidity stopping you from acknowledging wrestling outside WWE, watch this video. It highlights the Roster, memorable moments, and history of the company.

You know what's funny about ECW? It sure didn't age well. But too bad you won't give NJPW a shot, it's really about as good a run as a promotion has had in history. They got white hot early last year and haven't looked back. This is how they did in the Wrestling Observer's year-end awards LAST year:

    WRESTLER OF THE YEAR (Overall)
    1. Hiroshi Tanahashi
    2. C.M. Punk
    3. Kazuchika Okada

    MOST OUTSTANDING WRESTLER (In-ring)
    1. Hiroshi Tanahashi
    2. Kazuchika Okada
    3. Daniel Bryan

    FEUD OF THE YEAR
    1. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada
    2. Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
    3. The Rock vs. John Cena

    MOST IMPROVED
    1. Kazuchika Okada
    2. Michael Elgin
    3. Rush

    PROMOTION OF THE YEAR
    1. New Japan Pro-Wrestling
    2. Ultimate Fighting Championships
    3. World Wrestling Entertainment

    PRO-WRESTLING MATCH OF THE YEAR
    1. Tanahashi vs. Suzuki 10/8 Tokyo
    2. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar 4/29 Chicago
    3. Davey Richards vs. Michael Elgin 3/31 Ft. Lauderdale

    BEST MAJOR WRESTLING SHOW
    1. NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling 10/8 Tokyo
    2. WWE Extreme Rules 4/29 Chicago
    3. WWE WrestleMania 4/1 Miami

    BEST WRESTLING MANEUVER
    1. Kazuchika Okada's Rainmaker
    2. Antonio Cesaro's Neutralizer
    3. Daniel Bryan's Yes/No/LeBell Lock

    BEST BOOKER
    1. Jado & Gedo
    2. Joe Silva
    3. Mike Quackenbush

They have been even better this year.

I'll be honest that I have a tough time getting into the Japanese stuff, but I have been following Prince Devitt, and his heel stuff has been class with Bullet Club. In whole NJPW does a great job with the foreign talent and don't bog them down with stupid stereotypical gimmicks like the American Promotions do. Heck, they managed to make Harry Smith and Lance Hoyt seem interesting!

Yeah, they highlight the 'gaijin' over there. Harry Smith has a perfect gimmick going for him and he is an impressive big man who can move and work. Prince Devitt though is white hot right now and I bet he will be getting in the title picture soon.

Word is NJPW is starting to notice the western fans and are looking at english commentary. I really hope this happens, it would open the floodgates here.

That was FMV back in the day, they were big into death-matches. NJPW is about as far away from that as possible. It's treated as 100% legit. It's old school rules in a foreign language.
