Is Lions DT Ndamukong Suh The Next Reggie White?

    When the Detroit Lions played the Cleveland Browns during the preseason, Ndamukong Suh(notes) visited Canton, Ohio’s NFL Hall of Fame. He made sure to examine Reggie White’s bronze bust. “I definitely want to (do) everything like him,†Suh said. “But it’s definitely gonna take a lot of work for me even to get close to that.â€

    It may be premature to link the second-year player with one of the best defensive linemen of all time, but there are similarities between the two, starting with their frame and the tenacity they bring to each play.

    White, 6-5 and between 290 and 300 pounds, could stifle the run or the pbutt.

    “I see a lot of those same attributes in Ndamukong Suh,†said Ron Jaworski during a preseason ESPN conference call.

    Jaworski, the Monday Night Football announcer and former Eagles quarterback, played with White in Philadelphia during 1985 and 1986.

    I generally don't like comparisons at all. Suh is his own man and will make his own mark in the history books. I can't see where the comparisons come from though.

    Yea comparisons are generally useless. They're pretty much inevitable though.

    It's natural for people to make this connection. White is the most dominant lineman ever and Suh has come into the league and dominated from day one.

    That's an understatement.

    Suh is a beast and will make a lot of noise. Lets see if he can do it for a better part of a decade before we compare him to the late great Reggie White.

    Just remembered this thread.

    Please guys, never again mention a great player like Reggie White and a POS like Suh in the same sentence

    White = class
    Suh = worse than TO

    Inclulbus WE ARE! .. Marshall!

    Where does TO even come in to mention? The dude never came close to disrespecting the game of football when he stepped onto the gridiron. All of his stuff was off the field. What you're looking for is Albert Haynesworth.

    Reggie White was a DE. Suh is a DT

    Compare Suh to John Randle or Warren Sapp

    You can't compare suh to either randle or sapp. They were great players, suh is just plain dirty. There is a difference between aggressive and dirty.

    opinions seem to be changing about Suh. a lot of people (nfl fans/pundits) have been 'forgiving' Suh's immaturity thus far because he is such a gifted athlete but it seems a lot of his' fans' are beginning to realize his mental deficiencies will greatly reduce his legacy ............. (i.e. haynesworth, t.o., randy moss, etc.).

    these guys obviously never had someone make them be accountable when they were growing up and it's unfortunate.

    Mint hasn't. He's a beast...which I knew he would be. He's nasty...which I knew he would be. He's got no common sense...which most players lack...

    Not even close to Reggie...not many are.
