The partnership that eventually will bid on landing college football’s national championship game for Jacksonville will be a mix of private and public entities — including the Jaguars. Jacksonville Sports and Entertainment chairman Alan Verlander said Thursday that all parties concerned will be swinging into action soon to solidify a presentation to the Football Bowl Subdivision conference commissioners whenever they request it. The Jaguars will be one of the key constituents in the mix. Like the recent USA soccer game against Scotland and past events such as the ACC championship football game in 2005-2006, the Jaguars will lend support in various ways to help the city land the championship game in the first true playoff system at the highest level of college football. “We’re ready to do whatever we can to help the city in this effort,†said Bill Prescott, senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Jaguars. “This is a win-win for everyone involved if Jacksonville can get this game.†Source: Florida Times-Union
