Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports via twitter that the Cincinnati Bengals have acquired free safety Reggie Nelson from the Jacksonville Jaguars. In exchange, the Bengals shipped out cornerback David Jones. Nelson, the Jaguars former first round pick in 2007, is coming off of a 70-tackle season in 2009. The acquisition of Nelson fills a need after Gibril Wilson tore his MCL and ACL in the preseason. Primarily a special teamer in Cincinnati, Jones could be in line for more defensive snaps in Jacksonville. Source: Joe Reedy: Twitter.com
Nelson never lived up to the first round hype. He was bordering on bust, maybe a new start in cincy will help, but I doubt it.
If Odom is in the form he was before he got hurt, he might have a decent year. Wouldnt have minded us making this deal. Nelson would of fit our defense well
I was at the Falcons /Jags Scrimmage, A Jags Fan told me , 3 weeks ago Nelson was going to get cut because he sux, I go what number is he, He goes something like, the guy who blows coverage every down.
