TOKYO -- Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish ended months of speculation Thursday by saying he intends to make a move to Major League Baseball. The 25-year-old right-hander, considered the best pitcher in the Japanese professional leagues, wrote on his blog that he had decided to use the posting system, which allows MLB teams to bid for the negotiating rights to Japanese players who have yet to become free agents.

Should be quick too. Teams have 4 days to post, Japanese team has 4 days to accept, he has 30 days to agree with a team on a contract. Dude's a stud though. Flying mostly under the radar.

Wasn't Daisuke the same exact thing like 4 years ago. Look how that turned out. I'd be careful about how big a contract I'd be willing to give out here.

Evan Grant, the MLB writer for The Dallas Morning News thinks the Rangers should go after Darvish. They like him more than Buehrle and Wilson. And, he also points out that the Rangers, should they go after him, won't have to give up any compensation for him, or lose any young players in a trade.

This dude is a STUD! I kind of feel bad because had he come over like 3 or 4 years ago or even with Dice-K he'd of made CRAZY bank because this dude is probably the Ichiro of pitchers coming out of Japan. He's had major success against MLB hitters that he's faced the last few years. I'd love the Mets to get him but unless the winning bid if a subway coupon, no way Wilpon tosses out anything.
