Darrelle Revis, whom Sporting News has tabbed as the NFL's top cornerback entering the 2012 season, continues to dance around the subject of whether he wants a new contract from the New York Jets. Two years ago, the Jets gave Revis a four-year deal worth $46 million, including $32.5 million guaranteed, he hasn’t guaranteed that he’ll be willing to play for his scheduled $7.5 million in 2012. Revis avoided the topic with reporters on Thursday, saying he was "just getting ready for the season," according to the Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J. However, the New York Daily News quoted the cornerback as saying, "I don't know," when asked whether he would show up for the first day of camp in late July. It can be easily argued by Revis and his representatives—based on his work ethic, durability and high production—that he means more to the Jets now as an elite cornerback than he did in 2010 and therefore deserves to be rewarded with more money. Considering he's an invaluable member of a defense that has some issues to iron out, he has leverage. Source: Sporting News
Freaking ridiculous. Just signed a fat contract averaging 11.5 mil two years ago and might hold out. TEAM PLAYER right here.
He's obviously not worried about a long term deal. He'll wind up being one we eventually hear is bankrupt and struggling...
If he holds out I will lose all respect for him. I have always thought he was one of the "good" guys.. smh
Media must have a really short memory to still be asking him this. Here he said he is fine with his contract. A whopping three weeks ago.
I do remember Revis saying that. I don't know whether it's Revis really snitching about his contract AGAIN or the media making up bullcrap. The media making this up would not be a suprise.
