Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, suffered an apparent right ankle injury during the fourth quarter of the Jets 13-10 loss to the Patriots Thursday night, Darryl Slater of the Newark Star Ledger reports. He was helped off by trainers and put some pressure on his right foot as he left the field, but moved gingerly. He limped into the locker room after the game with his right cleat and sock off. He left the locker room with his ankle wrapped and ice on it. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson said Wilkerson told him in the locker room immediately after the game that he would be fine. Jets coach Rex Ryan hopes so, since Wilkerson is probably the most important part of the Jets’ defense, a unit they clearly will need to lean on to win games, at least as Smith finds his way. “Hopefully it is not a high ankle (sprain) because those are rough,†Ryan said. “But I am not sure yet.†Source: The Redzone
