I'm just throwing this out there. QB: Sanchez (stayed same, should improve) HB: Tomlinson (forget name value, Tomlinson is a huge regression from Thomas Jones, who was third in the NFL in rushing last year) WR: Holmes, Cotchery, Edwards (Same except for Holmes, who will only play for 12 games IF he doesn't get into any more trouble) TE: Keller (same) OL: New arrival Ducasse (replaces top G Faneca, huge regression) DL: Mostly same LB: Mostly same CB: Cromartie in, Wilson in, Sheppard out (good improvement, considering Cromartie has disappointed but Wilson was a top CB draft prospect) S: Rhodes out (regression) K: NICK FOLK (Feely cut, LOL) Just wondering, how much better did the Jets get? PS: Nick Folk, that is all
Aside from the CB position and Santonio Holmes......I think their step up is more hype than substance as well. Mark Sanchez will need to be much better for this team to take the next step because there were times they won in spite of him.
Dont sleep on Nick Folk Dont know if his prob was his hip last year, or if it was mental. But if it was just his hip and he is healthy and not hecked in the head, he is one of the best in the NFL. I think he is a good risk. If he can go back to 2007-08 form he is a clutch kicker with 55 yard range. If his head is hecked, he will be so bad he wont make the roster
HB: Shonn Greene, Joe McKnight, LaDanian Tomlinson. <This is good. Tomlinson, not so much, but I loves McKnight (play and name) from USC, and Greene proved he can carry the rock last year. I was surprised to see his breakaway speed. WR: Edwards, Holmes, Cotchery (the way you line them up matters). Edwards has inconsistent hands, but his physical abilities mean defenses have to respect him. Holmes will play opposite him, so there won't be any double teams. Cotchery can then use his route-running and hands to move the chains from the slot. This is good. DB: Revis, Cromartie, Wilson (NB). Very important because of the evolution of 3 and 4 WR sets being used much more often. Wilson can line up on a slot receiver (like Wes Welker twice a year) and play like a starting corner. If he shows, he could pass Cromartie for the #2. Revis is the best corner since Ghandi.
the 3 headed CB group wont be fair, this defense is elite already now they get jenkins back...they should be favored near the top of the AFC, in 2 years rex ryan is well on his way to building an elite team
db's got better. shon green is on the rise, LT can catch . my question to jet fans is what is going on at NT and will the blitz packages continue to get good pass rush?
They still have no OLBs no DEs no NT. The only set positions on the O line is LT and C. Everything else is a question mark.
Sexy Rexy has a lot of EGO's to contain in the revamped locker room. Do not see it happening in New York. Good luck with that Woody.
this is a good conversation and a question that i've been asking myself the last several weeks after the jets made so many changes. I think, in general, I feel like, from a talent standpoint, that they are about even to last year's roster. although they lost some significant talent, they replaced quite a bit.
If he cared enough if not he could get roasted being a CB that relies on his physical ability as opposed to proper technique playing next to the top CB in football ala Deangelo Hall Playing with a dominant corner will expose an overrated corner, like Hall or Bly. Cro isnt gonna get away with how he played in San Diego once he became starter when he is laying next to Revis
