The New York Jets announced second-round pick Geno Smith will start Week 1 at quarterback. The Jets recently dumped longtime backup Greg McElroy over the weekend. Incumbent QB Mark Sanchez is dealing with a shoulder injury. That leaves Matt Simms and newly signed Brady Quinn as the only other viable option in Week 1, so it's no surprise the West Virginia rookie will go under center to start the season vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
