The quarterback competition with the Jets now has one less. David Garrard has elected to call it quits. In a text to Adam Schein of NFL.com, Garrard wrote, "Having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do." Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported on Wednesday that Garrard told two players he no longer was with the team. So now the bonafide competition at quarterback is down to Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy and rookie Geno Smith. Source: The Redzone
Garrard seemed to have a good head on his shoulders so maybe he can find a place on a team to be an assistant coach or something.
I feel bad for him because he did work hard and really seems like one of the better guys in the league.
