Mark Sanchez was wearing a brace on his left knee at practice Monday and today and the Jets quarterback said today he will now always wear it at practices and games. "It’s a career move,'' Sanchez said when asked if the brace was a one-time thing, just for Friday's preseason game against Washington. He said he will wear the brace "probably forever.'' Sanchez wore the brace at USC and all of last season, but after having surgery in the offseason to repair an old injury to his patellar tendon, he had gone through training camp without the brace, only occasionally wearing a sleeve on the knee. He has maintained he does not like wearing the brace. However, coach Rex Ryan said he ordered Sanchez to put the brace on after seeing a defender come close to rolling into Sanchez' knee in the preseason game against Carolina. "I had him put the brace on after I saw that thing,'' Ryan said. "That was close. He couldn’t step up – the guy’s helmet was (near his knee). I was like, ‘That’s enough.’ That’s why he’s putting it on. I want him to wear it and see how it feels for one preseason game. And if it’s that big of an issue, then we’ll take it off for the game. But I feel much better about him just having that thing on.'' Source: Star Ledger
