Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez said he feels very good about how he performed in offseason workouts and that he has positioned himself well to earn the starting job. Sanchez is competing with Kellen Clemens for the Jets starting QB spot and earlier this offseason head coach Rex Ryan said it's a "dogfight" between the two. "Clemens and Sanchez are really battling," Ryan said. "I knew it was going to be a dogfight and right now, you can tell it really is. We probably wont know until whenever it becomes obvious, thats when well make the decision.

Both Flacco and Ryan where starters for more than a season and both were seniors who had there game refined. Sanchez is set up to be a bust simply because he is over confident and is not ready. His ability that would have developed with experience is almost non existant.

Agreed, Sanchez should give Leinart a call to get his take on the difference between college and pro ball...Sanchez does have a better arm, but way less playing experience.

I think he's gonna teach all the Jets fans the true meaning of a 'Dirty Sanchez' when they trot this kid out against HOU, NE & TEN. The clipboard is the best thing for him for the first while.

If he can beat out clemens in training camp there's no reason why he shouldn't start at some point this season. He'll definitely see a lot of time in the preseason and if he performs well he could be the starter early on. the jets have a very good oline so it's not like he'd be running for his life.

IMO, eitherway its a mess cause Sanchez is an overhyped USC product and Clemens is a career backup guy.

Maybe he is ready, I'll wait to pass judgement. He could be the next Matt Ryan, he can't be the next Flacco because he doesn't have near the defense the Ravens had to bail him out.

Matt Ryan was a three year starter(would have been 4 years if he didn't get hurt) at BC while Sanchez couldn't beat out John David Booty at USC. He had a very average year at USC last season. I still don't know where all the hype came from. Only Carson Palmer had success coming from USC and he sat for a year and had then Chad Johnson and T.J whoseyourmama to throw too.
