According to Aaron Wilson of RavenInsider, life in the preseason is about to change dramatically for New York Jets veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson. After years of being dormant in August when he was with the San Diego Chargers, Tomlinson is going to have to put in a full workload with his new team. “With change comes different expectations,†offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer told the New York Daily News. “LaDainian’s fighting for playing time. He’s got to earn the right. He wants to have the chance to start. So, he’s going to have to play… We can look forward to (him playing more in the preseason). Hopefully that will have something to do with him getting energized and getting off to a great start.†For Tomlinson's career, he has only played in seven out of 34 preseason games for a total of 16 carries and seven catches. “When we were there, we put him in for one play every preseason game and it was a pass,†Schottenheimer said. “The quarterbacks were told that if they threw it to him, just keep running and just leave. That was the mentality. .. “He’s in a situation now where -- yeah, he’s LaDainian Tomlinson - but he’s now a Jet. He’s got to prove to us and to the rest of the guys that he’s still got to go and play. Now, will we play him as much as Joe McKnight (in the preseason)? Absolutely not. But he’s still going to have to play.†Source: NFPost
..............."He wants to have the chance to start" ......................... huh? who in the world would even think of LT starting over Greene right now? I'm not saying LT is dead, but Greene is the future on that team. LT is there to be the relief pitcher and maybe give Greene some pointers to be successful. LT is NOT there to touch the ball 25 times a game. Although, now that I think about it. The Jets got rid of Jones AND Washington. They may need LT to touch the ball 15-20 times a game.
