With Mark Sanchez injured and seeking a second opinion on what might be a torn labrum, the New York Jets have re-signed veteran backup Brady Quinn. Quinn was previously with the Jets but released on Saturday. The reason for the re-signing is that now Quinn's salary isn't fully guaranteed for the 2013 season. If Quinn was on the roster for Sunday's 18-17 win over Tampa Bay, then the Jets would be stuck with his salary all year, even if they chose to cut him. The Jets are hopeful Quinn was able to learn the playbook during his stint with the team last week, just in case something happens to starter Geno Smith. Source: National Football Post
They could have replaced Sanchez before the game, no way he was going to play. They will keep him unless he winds up on IR. He is far better than either Quinn or Simms. They are paying the man $8m either way no sense letting him go if you can use him as a security blanket.
