Jim Schwartz Says Lions Is Willing To Move The Second Overall Pick

Lions coach Jim Schwartz just addressed reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine media center and said the team is willing to move its first-round draft pick (second overall) if the right trade presents itself. “We’re open to just about everything,†Schwartz said. “I think that whether you keep the second pick or you trade down, it doesn’t change what you have to do, and that’s make good decisions in the draft.†A league source told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora on Tuesday that the Lions indeed were shopping the No. 2 pick. Schwartz pointed to safety Louis Delmas, whom the team selected at the top of the second round last year, as an example of the quality players you can find lower in the draft. “There are blue-chip players available at a lot of different spots in the draft,†Schwartz said. “… Whether you trade down and get more picks, or whether you move up, it’s more about identifying the players, and getting the players to fit what you do.†“More picks aren’t useful if you don’t use them wisely.â€
