In an interview with Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, Denver Broncos coach John Fox was very candid about the changes the offense has undergone in order to accommodate new quarterback Tim Tebow. After a 45-10 blasting by the Detroit Lions, Fox decided that if Tebow had any chance to succeed, the Broncos were going to have to cater to his skill set and run a form of the spread option. The results have been good - two victories over the Raiders and Chiefs that have propelled the struggling Broncos back into the thick of the AFC West race at 4-5, a game behind Oakland. "If we were trying to run a regular offense, he'd be screwed," Fox said of Tebow. "After the loss to Detroit, we decided if Tim is going to be our guy, we can't do that other crap," Fox said. "We had to tweak it."

i couldn't stand tebow in college and could give two craps about his wholesome, holy roller lifestyle.....but the more crap people talk about him and he continues to get it done....he's growing on me.

Tebow's not "his" QB. He inherited him. He is just being honest about a player that may not fit what he wants

So you think Tebow would be able to run a normal NFL offense?

not sure id say tebow is "getting it done" but the broncos are finding ways to win despite having tebow, thats for sure

Yeah I think its more in spite of Tebow than because of him

well, if you read between the lines, fox is basically patting himself on the back for making tebow a mild success thus far.

well, maybe there's no way to spin it to call tebow a mild success at this point, but they are winning some games and their offense is moving the ball even with tebow under center. and i think that's the underlying message that fox was sending by saying this....... "look how smart me and my coaches are for figuring out the exact scheme and plays to make this offense successful despite tebow" .............

and fox is smart for pointing it out because, most likely, very soon, most teams are going to start shutting down their college-style offense now that everyone knows what they're doing and it's not like fox and his coaches have a lot of flexibility to adjust once oppossing defenses start playing their 'new' offense properly.

Of course he would. So the Broncos are catering to Tebow's "strengths." Something they should be doing. Similar thing the Panthers are doing with Newton. Everyone in the world knows he's not a "QB."

    Stinger75 It's Showtime, Folks!

The only thing Tebow's Donkeys have going for them this week is that the Jets had a short week and getting humiliated by the Patriots... If the Jets Defense isn't too hung over from last week they will destroy this offense. The Jets CB will play man and you put everyone else in the box play run ever play and shut that bible thumping idiot down.

i see it as, and apparently so does john fox as catering to tebows weaknesses

If he doesnt turn the ball over, he can win for now. NFL Defense's arent set up to defend him. Every NFL defense is geared towards stopping him NFL defense are geared towards defending pocket QB's that make quick reads, accurate throws, and change play's at the LOS. Most 3-4, 4-3 and Hybrid defense is geared towards that confusion.

Go rewatch Vick run all over Dallas. Our fronts shift at the LOS to confuse the QB and force him to change his play at the line. And you cant do this without blitizing or the threat of a blitz. Doing so leaves huge lanes for a QB to run through. Teams like Baltimore, NY and NE run similar systems. And truth is, no defense right now is set up to stop a "one read and run" QB Tebow could have "success" much like Ronnie Brown did with the Wildcat
