LeSean McCoy is the first running back in Eagles history to win this honor.

According to a release from the NFL, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for the month of December.

The award is well deserved. McCoy ran for 598 yards on 101 carries in the final month of the regular season, which is good for 5.9 yards per attempt. Five touchdowns, receiving and rushing combined, were scored by McCoy.

McCoy's 2013 campaign has been highly decorated. He won NFC Offensive Player of the Week once this year and FedEx Ground Player of the Week award three times. McCoy finished the season as the NFL's leading rusher, as well as the leader in total yards from scrimmage. McCoy broke several team records, including most yards by an Eagles running back in a single season with 1,607 yards gained. His game gear was also sent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame when he broke the Eagles' single game rushing record in the snow against the Lions.

McCoy is the first running back in team history to win this honor. It's the second straight month this year an Eagles player has won the award. Quarterback Nick Foles won the award in November. The Eagles are the third team since 2000 with a QB/RB duo (Foles/McCoy) to win Offensive Player of Month in consecutive months (other teams being the 2000 Rams and the 2002 Giants.)
