One of the big questions going into the draft - and a potential free agency market - is whether the Detroit Lions would consider moving middle linebacker DeAndre Levy to the outside. At the NFL annual owners' meeting today, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz addressed that situation. Schwartz said, yes, Levy has the ability to move but, no, he's not likely to be switched. "When he played as a rookie early on, he played on the outside. At the end of the year, he moved inside,'' Schwartz said. "Part of our criteria for linebackers is that we like multidimensional players and that means the ability to play inside and outside and play pass and run. That's one of the reasons we drafted him is because he's a multidimensional player. He can move around in a lot of different areas. "But also, we need to look at we're very happy with him inside. One of his strengths is his ability to control the defense. We were very pleased when he was a rookie in those last couple of games because it's very rare that a rookie can step up and do some of the things he did. And going through our off-season program last year, he was very, very impressive in our off-season program just in getting us set, what are checks were and all those different things. He's a very, very good communicator. There's also a value to having him in the middle of your defense.'' Source: MLive.com
