Does the addition of cornerback Amari Spievey, drafted by the Lions in the third round of this weekend's NFL Draft, mean that the Lions are less likely to sign Adam "Pacman" Jones? Not necessarily, according to Lions general manager Martin Mayhew. "You know, we're still kind of evaluating everything now," Mayhew said on Sunday. "I wouldn't say he's in play or not. Nothing has really changed from the time we talked at the league meetings. At that time, I said the next step in the process with (Adam Jones) would be to sit down and talk with him. We don't have that scheduled; we haven't planned anything about that. Well see how it goes." But it seems the additions of Spievey, along with free-agent acquisitions Chris Houston, Jonathan Wade and Dante Wesley, put the Lions in a situation where acquiring Jones could be more of a luxury than a necessity. Houston and Spievey deserve a season together to see what they've got. Along with an improving Delmas and a better D-Line, they are on the right track. Don't sign Pacman to take away reps from Amari.
