Lions president Tom Lewand was reportedly arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunk driving in Michigan's Roscommon County, approximately three hours north of Detroit. According to Tom Leyden of WXYZ in Detroit, Lions officials confirmed Lewand's arrest. Leyden tweeted a statement from Lewand on the incident: "I am deeply sorry for my actions and take full responsibility for them," the statement read. "As a person in active recovery, I am committed to taking all necessary steps to insure nothing like this ever happens again." There was no immediate word concerning disciplinary action from the Detroit franchise or the NFL. The Lions named Lewand team president in late December of 2008, immediately after Detroit wrapped up the NFL's first 0-16 season. Source: NFL Fanhouse
So the Bucs 0-14 season doesn't count? At any rate I just love it when these guys get caught then they're all apologetic. The old "it's ok until I get caught" mentality doesn't cut it with me. Also the "I'll take full responsibilities for my actions" is ludicrous to me. Who the hell else should take responsibility if not the person that broke the law?
I'm not mad, if I was fortunate enough to be connected to Detroit and still own a car, I'd get drunk and drive around too. What else is there to really do up there?
Gotta believe the Lions will be penalized. This goes against the personal conduct policy. Dude blew twice the legal limit and lied to the cops...lol.
