During his weekly radio appearance on "The Mitch Albom" show on WJR-760AM, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford said he planned to test his right shoulder this week, and isn't ruling out playing this Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. "I'm going to try to throw some this week and see how it feels," Stafford said on Monday. "I talked to our team doctors, and (orthopedic surgeon) Dr. (James) Andrews, and as well, and they thought it would be a good time to try to throw the football and see how it feels." When asked if throwing meant a return to action, Stafford didn't rule out, but deferred to Lions head coach Jim Schwartz. "I don't know," said Stafford. "It depends on how good it feels and what the doctors think is smart for me to do. We'll cross that bridge when we get there, I guess." The first overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, Stafford completed 11-of-15 passes for 83 yards before he was injured in the Lions' season-opener against the Chicago Bears. Shaun Hill has started the last three games, and while the Lions remain winless, Hill has completed 60.2% of his 161 pass attempts for 991 yards with 5 touchdowns. Hill has also been sacked and intercepted seven times, lost one fumble, and has a passer rating of 70.2.
