Second chances aren’t guaranteed to anyone in the NFL, so Kevin Smith is excited to get another shot with the Detroit Lions. With the health of Jahvid Best hanging in the balance – he remains out after suffering a second concussion this season – Smith was re-signed. "We're not adding an extra running back, we're sort of one in, one out," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said, according to the Detroit Free Press. "And it was more because Kevin was in such great shape, moved so well, impressed us so much in the workout. Plus, we knew his work ethic and his ability to know the offense, things like that. But it was more a result of how he looked physically rather than anything else." The Lions parted ways with Smith in March after three seasons when he was not tendered a contract as a restricted free agent. Thumb and knee injuries limited him in the previous two seasons, so he should be fresh if the knee injury doesn’t still hamper him. "I feel great," Smith said. "I feel like I came out of the body shop brand new. Obviously, I've been playing football for a long time and had two seasons where I got injured and got put on (injured reserve). I feel great, and God's blessed me with a second opportunity." Source: National Football Post
Coming from the guy wanting out of Detroit and go to Miami...even tweeting about wanting to go to Miami and now suddenly Detroit is a winning team and Miami...well isn't. My has he changed his tune. SUCK IT Smith, you're not even as good or talented as THE Kevin Smith, that guy who got kicked off a plane for being to fat, has a funny podcast and directed some good movies.
