The Detroit Lions have released cornerback Eric King, reports Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. A 2005 fifth-round pick (156th overall) out of Wake Forest by the Buffalo Bills, the journeyman cornerback was claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Browns, and totaling nine tackles in three games. King (5-8, 185) started one of four games with the Lions in 2009, but was released at the end of the 2010 training camp. King had one season ($640,000 base salary) remaining on his contract, which he had signed with the Browns last November. Overall, King has 82 career tackles and 8 passes defensed in 63 career games, mostly with the Tennessee Titans from 2006-08. Source: macsfootballblog
