Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham raved about one linebacker in the draft, comparing him to safety Louis Delmas, a second-round pick last year. Delmas is so energetic that he ran out for the meet-and-greet as if it were a game, trying to get the crowd riled up. Though Cunningham wouldn’t name the linebacker, it sounds like it isn’t Florida’s Brandon Spikes, he said he crossed Spikes off his list because he ran the 40-yard dash in five seconds. “We were talking about a linebacker today in the draft, and I’m not going to give you his name, and I love him,†Cunningham said. “Nobody else thinks he can do what I think he can do. But I saw it. And Jim saw it. And Matt was put on the carpet, if we draft him and he doesn’t play the first game, he’s fired. To me, that’s what we need, explosive, hard-hitting guys that want to be like Delmas. Have fun. Have fun practicing, have fun playing and be volatile. Give this city something to cheer about.†Source: Detroit Free Press
