The Detroit Lions are no longer over the NFL salary cap. Earlier this week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Lions were around $700,000 over the salary cap and needed to get under by Wednesday. On Tuesday, they got under and then some by restructuring defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch's contract. From Schefter: "Lions did a simple cap restructuring with DE Kyle Vanden Bosch, saving $3 million against the cap. Detroit is now under cap." By restructuring Vanden Bosch's deal, the Lions not only freed up enough money to get under the cap, but it sounds like they created a couple million dollars in cap room as well.
