Before taking off for the bye week, Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson agreed to a slight restructure of his contract, a league source confirmed on Saturday. Signed to a five-year, $25 million contract in March of 2010, Burleson was earning a $2.875 million base salary and had a cap number of $3.575 million in 2011. Under the renegotiation, which was signed on November 2, Burleson received a $1,093,235 signing bonus and lowered his base salary to a rate of $810,000 for the remaining nine weeks of the season. The eight weeks at the previous rate ($1,352,941), the signing bonus ($1,093,235) and nine weeks at the $810,000 rate ($428,824, which was guaranteed for skill and injury) equals $2.875 million, but has lowered Burleson's cap hit to $2.755 million, freeing up nearly $820,000 in space under the salary cap.
