    With a playoff bye in the balance, the Patriots took an early 3-0 over the Buffalo Bills after a solid opening drive.

    LeGarrette Blount got things started for the Patriots. The running back ran the ball four times in the first five plays. He ran for 26 yards in those four rushing attempts. It looked like the Pats would be forced to punt after failing to convert on a third-and-3, from the Buffalo 43, but a defensive holding penalty kept the drive alive. Then faced with a third-and-8, form the 36, Shane Vereen fumbled, but Julian Edelman recovered and had enough for the first.
