Besides owner Ralph Wilson and COO Russ Brandon, Bills backup RB Fred Jackson should thank Marshawn Lynch for getting him the contract hes been searching for due to Lynch being suspended for the first three games of season stemming from a string of off-field indiscretions, the most recent being a firearms arrest following the Pro Bowl. The way we hear it, his growing rap sheet has the team at least somewhat concerned about his long-standing viability as an NFL player in the personal-conduct crackdown era. The word out of Buffalo was that the team was content to make Jackson play under the one-year deal it tendered him as an exclusive-rights free agent, but his inspiring play in 2008, combined with the teams disillusionment with Lynch and his legal woes, was enough to get the deal done.
