Courtesy of defensive end Julius Peppers, a majority of the Chicago Bears defense attended the funeral for Brian Urlacher's mother on Saturday. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports virturally every member of the Bears defense traveled to Lovington, N.M., Saturday to attend funeral services for Brian Urlacher’s mother, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Team chairman George McCaskey, president Ted Phillips, general manager Jerry Angelo, coach Lovie Smith and linebackers’ coach Bob Babich were among the contingent attending the funeral services. According to the source, defensive end Julius Peppers rented a private plane to take him and many of his teammates to the services before returning to New Orleans, where the Saints host the Bears today.
