Memphis will be forced to vacate its NCAA record 38-victory, Final Four season of 2007-08 under former coach John Calipari and serve three years' probation because of NCAA rules violations, the NCAA Committee on Infractions announced Thursday. Memphis president Shirley Raines said the school would appeal the ruling. The NCAA in May accused Memphis of several major infractions under Calipari, including a fraudulent SAT score by a player, later revealed to be Derrick Rose, and providing close to $1,700 in free travel to Rose's brother, Reggie. How in the hell is the school going to win an appeal of these allegations? Should make Rose pay some sort of restitution to the university.
Exactly. You can't vacate the viewers memory banks. We still saw that crap on tv. It still happened even if you want to pretend it didn't. So 20 years from now some kid looks up in his sports almanac who played in the Final 4 and only three teams are listed does that mean a 4th team wasn't there? No. Punish teams by taking scholarships not by creating revisionist history books. Freaking stupid.
you cant make rose do crap, it probably was setup by the school in order to get rose in. you know who simply doesnt give a heck about this? 1st overall pick and rookie of the year derrick rose...and he shouldnt
You have to start to wonder about Calipari a little bit and how dirty his hands are in this. Having two final fours vacated under his reign, one at Umass and now one at Memphis doesn't look good at all.
