After talking with advisors and fellow players, LeBron James has decided not to run for president of the National Basketball Players' Association, sources told ESPN.com.

James told ESPN last week he was considering running for the position, which came open this summer when Derek Fisher's term expired. According to a source, James may instead support the possible candidacy of Miami Heat teammate James Jones, who is currently the treasurer of the union.

USA Today first reported James would not seek the position.

The union, which is holding its summer meeting in Las Vegas next week, is currently in flux with no executive director and no president. Fisher and former head Billy Hunter are involved in a legal battle over Hunter's firing for misuse of union money.

Wonder if his less than flattering view on the NBPA's current status had anything to do with it?
