NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira said Wednesday that Cardinals CB Michael Adams grabbing the facemask of Packers QB Aaron Rodgers on the final play of last weekend's NFC wild-card playoff game was incidental. "He's got a finger hooked on the mask," Pereira said. "It's a tough play, but it really is one of those you don't get the big look you got on the other facemasks (in that game) of the clear and obvious pull or the clear and obvious twist." Pereira did admit that he was glad the ball never touched the ground on the final play, instead caroming off Rodgers' foot and into Dansby's waiting hands. Pereira said if the ball hit the ground, it could have been ruled a "tuck play." But Pereira figured that whatever was called on the field would have stood. Source: NFL.com
Awww who gives a heck. The game is over, I'm a Bears fan and happy with the result. Even if there was a bad call or a bunch of them it's too friggin late now. My Bears have lost the same way and I don't cry over it because sometimes we win that way. Yawn, it's getting late......
No, heck that. .I dont care what anyone says. they missed a couple of key calls in that game and now are just making excuses. Like not calling Fitz on pass int when he ran woodson over...or the helmet to helmet contact that rodgers recieved on the second play of overtime. It cost us that game. I dont wanna hear "it happens". This is the playoffs, and the refs are payed to make these calls. They should have had a different officiating crew there if they couldnt handle it.
I didn't see the play live when the emotions were all flowing and crap, but when I saw it later it was obvious that the ball was the most important thing on the field. I can forgive the refs this one.
this play will haunt packer fans for years... i don't know why ya'll don't see that..... but i can and will move on because besides the two flags that the pack should have got on the last two plays, the first one in ot was an missed pass that would have resulted in an 80 yard TD... so ya refs make mistakes, but i will say it again... if you replace rodgers with warner/manning/brady, there are 3 flags getting thrown on both of those two last plays... thats a freaking reality check yo.... one last thing on this, when the cards get ran over this weekend, every nfl fan will wish they got to see a good game, the game we should all be seeing...
Dude, seriously? You are still crying about the Packers losing to the Cardinals? WAH! WAH! WAH! Refs miss calls all the fricking time. Whenever my team losses and even if it's on a bad call, i'm usually OVER IT BY THURSDAY. So you are pretty much saying the refs cost you guys the game, is that right? Well I beg to differ. If your defense didn't suck butt in regulation by giving up 45 points, the game wouldn't have even gotten to OT.
Word. I've never heard someone saying, we won bc a bad call, give the game to the opponent.... Did anyone notice, that nobody from the Packersplayers or coaches complained about this call, right after it happend? Or did anyone of the Packers voice his displeasure in the media? If so, I must have missed that...
He did it twice. And both times it was horsecrap. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Looked like even Rodgers didn't make a stink about it. But that isn't the point.
Point is, that some who thought we will shoot out the Cards like we did a week b4, still complain about some "bad" calls. Of course I would like to see the Pack going deeper into the playoffs, but they ain't, period. Point is, that we had 60 minutes to win this game Point is, that the Cards got leads up to 21 points Point is, that our D didn't show up most of the time But well, it's easier to blame the refs....
I can feel some of the Packer fans pain on this one. In the 2003 Giants-49ers WC Game, the refs made a bad call on our part when Rich Seubert was pulled down from behind by Chike Okafor after going for a pass attempt by Punter Matt Allen after a botched FG snap by Trey Junkin. Seubert was an eligible receiver but was flagged for being ineligible, but the ineligible man was Tam Hopkins I believe. So instead of getting the pass interference call and another opportunity to win the game, the 49ers advanced and made the biggest playoff comeback in NFC Playoff history. Refs make bad calls from time to time but thats no excuse. We let up after having a 38-14 lead late in the third quarter and allowed the 49ers to get back in the game and win it. It should've never came down for us having to kick a field goal. We lost our composer and blew it. It took me a little while to get over but you live to fight another day. You live, learn and get on with it.
This was a disappointing game, all around. I can't get too upset over a couple penalties that didn't get called when the Packers didn't even show up for the first quarter.
It was disappointing for a Packers fan (which I am when they aren't playing the Steelers).... They came out cold and lifeless. It cost them.
