Sources have confirmed that the Washington Redskins recently tried to hire Mike Shanahan to replace Jim Zorn and Shanahan declined. The sources would not rule out the possibility that Shanahan would reconsider in the offseason. "Shanahan told the franchise there was little he could do in the middle of the season for them and that changing coaches during the season in the NFL rarely works,'' a Redskins management source told FanHouse. "Several people that Dan Snyder trusts have suggested, if he makes a move, he should turn it over to secondary coach Jerry Gray. That could still happen. Source: Fanhouse.com
Not shocked here, he's a coach not a miracle worker. Not to mention this move just made Clinton Portis' career last a little longer, he would have been ran into the ground like TD.
LOL @ the skins. No good coach is going to take this job mid season. If you're a stud coach, why wouldn't you wait until the offseason, see who gets crap canned and then take the best job available? If you're an elite coach (not saying he is or isn't), you can even get the teams to bid against each other for your services. Snyder is a hecktard, and I feel bad for my friend who is a skins fan.
We have some of the pieces. Many in DC are talking boycott of Snyder b/c the problems all stem from him.
Great...now Jerry ranks behind of both Al Davis and Dan Snyder in the "no way I work for that guy" ranking :icon_cheesygrin:
Good for Mike. Why would he want to walk into the middle of that mess right now? Daniel Snyder is goobered, you aren't going to just hire a new coach in the middle of the season and change anything enough to matter. Any coach worth a crap is going to want to take over after the season is over so he has time to mold the team the way he wants.
Mike Shanahan is a good choice but he wont be able to save your season "with this team" its gonna take him time to rebuild this team.
