An MRI on Mark Sanchez's injured right shoulder appears to show that the New York Jets quarterback has a partially torn labrum, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Chris Mortensen.

The Jets will seek a second opinion on Sanchez's shoulder this week from renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, according to the source.

If Sanchez does have a tear in his labrum, he will not necessarily need surgery.

Sanchez, who suffered the injury last month in the Jets' preseason game against the New York Giants, is inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rookie Geno Smith will start at quarterback.

If Smith tears it up over the first few games, Sanchez's rehab will take longer than expected.

You're talking about then showing Sanchez's haircut on TV right? Yea I'd keep him on the bench for that too.
