"Multiple sources" have reportedly told New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez that he should not have season-ending shoulder surgery at this time according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported Wednesday that Sanchez would likely require surgery on his throwing shoulder after a visit to Dr. James Andrews confirmed a torn labrum. Instead, Sanchez has decided to go the rehab route in hopes of playing this season. It is unclear what role Sanchez would have with the Jets even with a successful rehab, as they seem to have locked in rookie Geno Smith as their starter. Unfortunately, Smith's three interceptions in the fourth quarter of Thursday night 's loss to the Patriots made it clear he is not yet ready for that role.

I actually liked Geno's attitude towards his performance after the game. And I saw some good decision-making in the first 3.25 quarters. I think he just tried to force some plays at the end, and the throws weren't good. Not sure about his arm strength though. It seems like his deep balls were short almost every time
