Multiple teams have called the Patriots this week about a potential trade for backup quarterback Ryan Mallett, according to three league sources.

Whether the Patriots will trade the 2011 third-round pick is the question. But all three sources said the odds are slightly stronger that Mallett is dealt than kept by the Patriots.

The Patriots have been heavily scouting quarterbacks in the leadup to the draft, and could very well select one during the draft.

The Patriots would like more than a third-round pick after developing Mallett for two years.

I still think the Patriots should keep him, unless they get an offer they can't refuse.

This. I like the idea of him taking over when Brady leaves.

He's a free agent after like next year or the year after though, and Brady will at least be around that long. Ok hoping Cleveland gets the deal done, he'd be a good pickup. They plan to keep calling about him, and Lombardi's enthusiasm for the guy hasn't lessened.

I Bet the Browns end up taking geno smith.I Think it would be better than going after mallet cause norv turner maybe an awful head coach,he is one of the league's best ever ocs,and smith is more athelitic than mallet ever will be,and turner can work wonders with him.
