Going back on my earlier Mock saying "Tyron Smith" There are two guys that follow the "Jenkins Rule" they play a position of need, and you hide interest by not bringing them in for a visit. Despite not ever scheduling a visit, Dallas valued Jenkins enough to trade up for him, and Mosely reported that he was their second ranked CB in 2008 Therefore, the two players i believ are Dallas's top targets are...... 1- Prince Amukamara. I have him guessed as the top target since there have been whispers we will cut Newman 2- Nick Fairley. Possible interest is a little more questionable, since Arizona, who also play's a 3-4 didnt bring him in either. Therefore, he may not be viewed as a 5 tech. However, we will play a hydrid, so a 3 Tech to 5 tech convert is more appealing. With talk that he might be slipping. bring a player of his ability in is just due diligence Now on to Tyron Smith. I do think there is interest there, but not at #9. Jones has talked about trading down. The value for Smith just isnt there at 9, and wont be. I think Jones values Smith somewhere in the #15 range
I think if Bowers is still available at the nine spot and Dallas has their sights set on Smith but don't want to spend a Top 10 pick on him......I could see a team like the Lions.....who picks at No. 13........willing to move up to the nine spot and take Bowers. The Cowboys could very well have their man in Smith at No. 13 overall. Defensive end is one of the Lions biggest need and it's a deal that could be a win-win for both clubs.
For Smith, we may need to stay ahead of Detroit. Its hard to tell where they are going to go. With their interior DL that is talented and deep, they may have an easier time plugging in 2nd or 3rd rounder like Sheard or Acho in at DE as opposed to finding an OT
The Texans are another option. 9 to 11 isn't much of a drop and Houston doesn't have a significant need at OT.
Granted I don't know much about Smith, but is he worth a first round pick. Or top 15.... sent from my cell using tapatalk snitches
Smith is one of those high upside types. Athletic freak that needs to gain weight and add strength. Is already a good pass protector on the right side and could be a Pro Bowl caliber LT given time. He's also only 20 I would say he is lower end of the top 15
Ahhhh I see....I guess Ive never seen many ol that go high turn out real good except for fergeson dudee on brown's can't recall his name Joe something. Long on dolphins come to mind....but then I think of gallery l Davis etc etc
OT is a gamble that high. Especially when teams often fall in love with measurable like in the case of Jason Smith
