Key's to the game - We need to exploit the Browns secondary. Much is said about the WR's. We dont have the depth, but we do have the horse's -We need to be creative with Winslow. Expect to see Henry on him alot - New weapons. We're debuting Stanback, Jones and Bennett this game. All are offensive weapons that coach's know little about -Gurode needs to dominate He broke in as a starter by playing strong against 3-4 teams. he should have no problems with a Paper NT like Rogers. Even on the 10 plays Rogers puts out an effort - Get in Andersons face. If he has time, he'll kill us with the targets he has. If we pressure him, he kill himself Players to watch Isaiah Stanback- He goes into this game #3 on the depth chart. He is dangerous, but is he ready for showtime as a WR. Shoulder injury is a concern, but reprts are he is looking good Martellus Bennett- With Witten possibly seeing alot of time in the slot, Bennett could become a weapon. Despite all the "Hard Knocks" press, he actually had a solid Preseason Anthony Henry/Adam Jones- The Cowboy's want to use Henry man 2 Man on TE's. To do this, Jones has to be trusted to lockdown the slit end. With Winlsow, this is key Key matchups - Andre Gurode VS Shaun Rogers[. With Holland not yet ready and proctor starting, Gurode needs to dominate Rogers. Considering Rogers tendencies, I think its more of a lock than people think. Terence Newman VS Braylon Edwards- Pretty much goes without saying. There is pretty much one of these in every game. Edwards will need a top effort to dominate this game however Anthony Henry VS Kellen Winslow- The Cowboys plan on matching Henry up often on TE's this year. Jason Witten VS Clevelands LBs- This is gonna kill Cleveland like it did NY week 1 last year with Kiwi. You know mismatch happy Jason Garrett is gonna find a way to lock Witten on one of Clevelands 3-4 LB's Demarcus Ware VS Joe Tomas If the Cowboy's pressure Anderson, he is gonna have alot of problems. He is not the same QB unprotected, and we have a secondary that can exploit him. If he has time Edwards, Stallworth and Winslow can kill us
One thing your missing is how well our Nickel and Dime Cornerbacks will do in the game. Scandrick and Jones. Can't have them taking pass interference calls like in the preseason. We shouldn't have much of a problem with J-Crack.
Good point. Rookie CB's are alway's gonna get targeted. I wouldnt worry so much about Nickel, I dont think either one has broken in there yet, unless Henry play's SS
Yeah... But either way our roookie CB's look awesome. Alot of positives on both of them, both are very fast. I'm pretty sure Scandrick is ahead of Jenkins on the depth chart which is a bit alarming considering Jenkins was taken in the 1st and Scandrick the 5th or 6th round. I'm really hoping we play alot of man-zone coverages this year, like when Zimmer was running the D. We had alot of zone blitzes and man-zone coverages and we had bigtime results we were rated the #1 D, all be it we were running 4-3 back then but I'd say we have alot better personnel now than we did back then. Another key matchup to watch for is Marcus Spears vs their RG & RT. He was a force in the preseason causing alot of disruption for offenses. It will be interesting to see if we even use Bennett in the first game. I hope we do, but for some reason I don't see him being used much. I wonder if we have any special offensive formations for Felix & Marion to be in the backfield at the same time. I know Felix can't really block but Barber can and I think using a splitbacks set would benefit the O alot, It would confuse Defensive Coordinators a bit. Having Owens, Crayton, Witten, Felix Jones, and Barber all on the field at the same time thats a whole lot of firepower.
Scan was much more scheme ready for us then Jenkins was. Jenkins had alot more adjusting to do, but he is much more versitile than Scandrick is as a CB
