A New Orleans police officer in charge of police escorts has been reassigned after he asked the Tennessee Titans to make out a check payable to cash for an escort the team received from Louis Armstrong International Airport to the Superdome. Officer James Neyrey has been reassigned to the 5th District, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, for violating police department regulations. The Titans closed preseason with a game at the Saints on Sept. 1. Neyrey asked the Titans to make out the check and the team declined, saying it didn’t write checks payable for cash. The New Orleans police superintendent announced in August 2010 officers could no longer receive cash for detail work. Source: National Football Post
